Voronezh - The Voronezh Central District Court has tried a case involving the deportation from Russia of Ukrainian journalist Yevhen Aharkov, the court has reported.

The court has found that Aharkov, a correspondent with the special
news department of the Ukrainian Studio 1+1 television, who covered the
case involving Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko in Voronezh, did not have
a work permit in Russia.

Aharkov was detained by Federal Migration Service officials and
accused of an administrative violation, namely, “illegal employment in
the Russian Federation by a foreign citizen or a stateless person.”

The court gave Aharkov a 2,000 ruble fine and ordered that he be deported from Russia.

An official with the Federal Migration Service’s Department for the
Voronezh region told Interfax the journalist is currently in a temporary
accommodation center for foreign citizens in the Pavlovsky district of
the Voronezh region.

He has ten days to file an appeal, the source said.
