You're reading: Ukrainian official: Russian correspondent Stenin’s whereabouts unknown

 The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has no information on the whereabouts of Russian photographer Andrei Stenin, who went missing while working in eastern Ukraine, Anton Heraschenko, an advisor to the interior minister, has said.

 “We have no information about Andrei Stenin. I put this question to the head of the Security Service after the issue prompted a public outcry. The SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) is not holding this man either,” Heraschenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Aug 20th.

He said that many people – Ukrainian patriots, including journalists, were currently missing due to the actions of “pro-Russian fighters” on Ukrainian territory, “but they focus on this [man] for some reason.”

Russian media outlets said that Stenin has been missing since Aug. 5th.
