"The total amount of bribes received was Hr 12.62 million, and the average size of a bribe was Hr 177,000," the Interior Ministry has reported.
Acting Chief of the Interior Ministry’s Main Department for Combating Organized Crime Eduard Fedosov said that bribes taken by high-ranking officials had been reported in Cherkasy, Kyiv, Ternopil, Donetsk regions, as well as a number of other regions.
Bribery remains the most common crime in Ukraine, Fedosov said.
He also said that the largest bribe demanded by a criminal was Hr 8 million.
Fedosov noted that about 30-40% of the current cases of bribery had been already been sent to the courts.
