The Ukrainian opposition said it demanded Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Rybak sign the resolution passed by the parliament on establishing a Verkhovna Rada temporary committee to probe unlawful actions of the law enforcement authorities regarding protest participants.

“The parliament has voted on the resolution on establishing a
temporary investigative committee of the Verkhovna Rada to probe
unlawful actions of the law enforcement authorities and certain
officials, cases of attempts on the rights, freedoms and lives of
citizens during the events related to large-scale rallies, which have
been held since Nov. 21, 2013,” leader of the Batkivschyna faction
Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a coordination council meeting on Monday.

The Verkhovna Rada speaker has not yet signed the resolution, in
accordance with which the parliament should probe the unlawful actions
of police and special purpose units, in particular Berkut, Yatseniuk
said.

“That is why we demand that you sign the resolution immediately, so
that committee head, Deputy Hennadiy Moskal starts carrying out his
duties immediately,” Yatseniuk told Rybak.
