You're reading: Ukrainian Paralympic athletes win 12 medals, come third in medal count

Ukraine's Paralympic team has won 12 medals in the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada, and currently holds third spot in the medal count.

The Ukrainian team won five medals on Wednesday, in particular, a gold, two silver and two bronze medals, the press service of the Ukrainian National Sports Committee for the Disabled reported.

Oleksandra Kononova claimed a gold medal in the women’s 12.5-km standing biathlon. Hryhoriy Vovchynsky and Olena Yurkovska won silver medals in the men’s 12.5-km standing biathlon event and the women’s 10-km sitting biathlon event respectively. Yulia Batenkova-Bauman won bronze in the women’s 12.5-km standing biathlon, while Vitaliy Lukyanenko took bronze in the men’s 12.5-km visually impaired biathlon event.

Ukraine currently stands third in the table after Russia and Germany, with a total of 12 medals (three gold, four silver and five bronze medals).
