The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has adopted the state budget for 2014.

249 MPs out of the 261 registered in the parliament’s session hall voted for such a decision at a morning meeting on Jan. 16.

Before the vote, Vice Speaker Ihor Kaletnik said that the budget
would be adopted without discussion, as the rostrum had been blocked by
opposition deputies.

After that, he gave the floor to the head of the budget committee,
Yevhen Heller (the Party of Regions), who read out the committee’s
decision on the draft budget.

The deputies continued to work after the adoption of the budget.
