You're reading: Ukrainian parliament passes bill on law enforcement agencies

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a bill which lays down the legal and organizational foundation for the activities of central agencies of internal affairs.

Relevant bill No. 2561 on law enforcement agencies was passed at second reading and as a whole by 242 lawmakers on July 2.

According to the bill, the law enforcement agencies are a system of executive agencies and military units that are involved in and carry out the state policy in the field of internal affairs.

The system of law enforcement agencies include the Interior Ministry, the National Police, the executive agencies that carry out policies in the field of protection of the state border (the State Border Service), in matters of migration (the State Migration Service), in the field of civil protection, protection of population and territories from emergency situations (the State Service for Emergency Situations), and the National Guard.
