You're reading: Ukrainian prosecutor asks US to help searching for foreign accounts of Yanukovych regime representatives

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin met with representatives of the U.S. embassy Christopher Smith and James Price in Kyiv and the parties discussed cooperation between law enforcement authorities of the two countries, in particular between the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office and the U.S. FBI.

“Viktor Shokin has asked representatives of the U.S. embassy to assist in the investigation of ‘Maidan cases’ and criminal activities of representatives of the [former Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych regime. He proposed the drafting and confirmation with the U.S. of a joint plan of investigative action to search for funds and accounts received by representatives of the previous authorities criminally and withdrawn outside Russia,” the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement posted on its website on July 29.
