The rescuers of State Service for Emergency Situations will ensure the safety of Hasidic Jews traveling to Uman (Cherkasy Oblast) in September to mark Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), Emergencies Minister Mykhailo Bolotskykh has said.

“This year we’ll fulfil all the tasks that were done last year, at the same scale and with the same quality. Moreover, we’ll take additional security measures. The corresponding task was set for all rescuers, in particular the leadership of the State Service for Emergency Situations and chief of emergency department in Cherkasy Oblast,” he said during a meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Reuven Dinel on Monday.

The ambassador, in turn, thanked the rescuers for the proper level of organization of the safe visit of the pilgrims to Uman in 2012.

“Last year everything was organized at the highest level.”

Every fall, pilgrims go to Uman to visit the grave of Reb Nahman and celebrate the Jewish New Year.
