You're reading: Ukrainian Security Service detains one of Donetsk People’s Republic cell leaders in Mariupol

The Ukrainian Security Service and National Guard detained leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the Donetsk region's Mariupol on June 23, the Ukrainian Security Service press office said in a statement.

“It has been determined that Voropayeva instigated locals to disobey
the legitimate authorities of Ukraine and called for separating the
Donetsk region from Ukraine,” the document said.

The woman detained, 1958, is a Ukrainian citizen and is suspected of
committing the crime under the Ukrainian Criminal Code Article 258-3
Part 1 (creating a terrorist cell or terrorist organization), the press
office said.
