Simferopol - The Crimean Transport Ministry has organized delivery into region for passengers of trains from Ukrainian cities, which now go only as far as Novooleksiyivka in mainland Ukraine, following a decision by the government in Kyiv, Crimean Transport Minister Anatoly Tsurkin said.

“Today Ukraine unilaterally cut rail links with Crimea. Busses are on standby
at the border and go to Novooleksiyivka to collect train passengers,” Tsurkin
wrote on his Facebook page.

On Dec. 26 Ukraine announced its decision to stop rail and bus links with
Crimea. Most trains, which previously ran between Ukrainian cities and
Simferopol or Sevastopol, now go no further than Novooleksiyivka in Ukraine’s
Kherson region, not far from the Russian-Ukrainian border.

In addition, the Ukrainian state inspectorate for land transport told
carriers to stop operating buses to Crimea. Road freight services between
mainland Ukraine and Crimea on Saturday continued as usual.
