You're reading: Ukrzaliznytsia: Railways restore 40 of 52 objects damaged in fighting in east of Ukraine

The railways as of July 15 had restored 40 of the 52 railway objects destroyed during the fighting in the east of Ukraine, with losses amounting to about Hr 292 million, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia has said.

“As of July 15 we had restored 40 objects, or 450 meters of track destroyed during the fighting in the east of Ukraine at a cost of Hr 3.14 million. In total we need to repair 52 objects or 1,700 meters of the track of Donetsk, Prydniprovska and Pivdenna Railways,” reads the report.

The Ukrzaliznytsia specialists have determined the approximate amount of funds needed to restore the damaged facilities, reviewed the progress of work, and outlined a plan of priority actions for certain railways. According to current information, the railways’ losses from terrorist acts on the major objects amount to Hr 291,600. However, not all objects have been examined due to a limited access to them.

According to the main track facilities department, two of the eight artificial structures that were damaged have been restored. Thus, the movement of trains with a speed of up to 40 km/h is restored at a temporary scheme on the Kondrashivska-Starobilsk section. The movement of trains with a speed of up to 25 km/h has been restored on the Sloviansk-Shpychkyne section.
