You're reading: Ukrzaliznytsia to sell railway tickets with passengers’ last names from April 6

Railway tickets in Ukraine starting from April 6, 2013 will be sold with passengers' names and last names, as provided by the person who buys the tickets, the first deputy head of the main passenger department at Ukrzaliznytsia, Ihor Breus, has told journalists in Kyiv.

He said that the ID documents are to be presented only when boarding trains.

Breus said that a mistake of no more than three letters in the name and last name of the passenger is acceptable.

“Passengers should clearly understand that the data input should be checked before leaving the ticket office,” he said.

The official said that tickets with names are introduced in connection with a gradual switch to electronic tickets and the prevention of the illegal resale of tickets.

Breus said that tickets for passengers awarded with benefits are sold if the original of the document ensuring the benefit is presented. The said passengers are to present a ticket and the document ensuring the benefit when boarding the train.

In addition, Breus announced a list of documents that can be used to board the train: a passport of a Ukrainian citizen, a passport of a Ukrainian citizen for trips abroad, diplomatic passport of Ukraine, sailor’s ID, crew member ID, ID for returning to Ukraine, temporary ID of a Ukrainian citizen, driver’s licenses, ID for people without citizenship for trips abroad, ID of a person who is to be additionally protected, travel document for trips abroad of a person who is declared refugee and a person who is to be additionally protected, certificate on the application for protection in Ukraine, permanent residence document, migrant card, refugee ID, travel document of a refugee, passport of a foreigner and a person without citizenship.

Breus also said that passengers have to present ID documents when they return tickets.
