BRUSSELS - The conflict in Ukraine has already resulted in the deaths of 3,543 people, UN Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic has said.

As of Sept. 21, the number of registered deaths is 3,543 people, including 298 victims of the Malaysian airliner crash, he said speaking before the Human Rights Council of the United Nations on Sept. 23.

He added that the data had been obtained from the sources available to the UN, so the actual number of deaths was probably much higher.
