In the framework of current projects the United Nations will provide Ukrainian officials with consultative assistance on reforming the energy, infrastructure and environmental sectors, the press office of Ukraine Deputy Prime Minister Valeriy Voschevsky said.

Such an agreement was reached following a meeting between Voschevsky and UN coordinator in Ukraine Neal Walker.

During the meeting Voschevsky talked about the initial measures of the government to carry out reforms in Ukraine, to establish new state environmental inspection and to reorganize Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).

“I am grateful that the UN supports the intention of the Ukrainian government to carry out reforms in economy and society while taking into account stable development principles. Developing high-quality and reliable infrastructure, industrial development and efficient management are most crucial for us,” Voschevsky said.

In order to do this, it is necessary to create a flexible mechanism to coordinate authorities, business and civil society, the deputy prime minister said.

Following the meeting the parties agreed to form a working group in order to speed up reforms, in particular in such sectors as energy, infrastructure and environment.
