President of the Ukrainian Union of Afghan War Veterans Serhiy Chervonopysky has proposed there be an analysis of the implementation of a memorandum on cooperation between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Union of Afghan War Veterans and a review of their social security program.

“We propose analyzing the implementation of the memorandum on
cooperation between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the
Ukrainian Union of Afghan War Veterans (international soldiers),
reviewing the social security program and preparing effective proposals
to adjust the state budget for 2013,” he said at a press conference in
Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said that the Union of Afghan War Veterans, which he heads, hopes
for a constructive dialog with the authorities and for the priority
settlement of the problems of veterans.

“However, if the needs of the disabled, war veterans and the families
of the deceased are ignored, we are ready to take decisive action,”
Chervonopysky said.

As reported, a memorandum on cooperation between the Cabinet of
Ministers and the Union of Afghan War Veterans, which was signed on
September 30, 2011, should have been implemented for five years, but the
state budget for 2013 will not give the opportunity, according to the
head of the Union of Afghan War Veterans, to implement this memorandum.
