You're reading: Up to 50,000 foreign fans to visit Donetsk for Spain vs. Portugal match

Donetsk – Around 50,000 foreign fans are expected to arrive in Donetsk for the match between Spain and Portugal on Wednesday.

Some 99% of the hotel rooms in the city have been booked, and almost all places in the campsites have been taken in Donetsk, according to the host city’s press center.

The press secretary of Donetsk Border Guard Detachment, Eduard Nykytenko, said that more than 150 charter flights with fans are expected to land at Donetsk International Airport today.

“This will be the first time our airport receives such a large number of planes,” he said.

The Portuguese and Spanish teams arrived in Donetsk on Tuesday. The teams held training sessions in the evening before the match, and their coaches held press conferences.

Donetsk Mayor Oleksandr Lukyanchenko will hold a press conference on the results of the hosting of the Euro 2012 championship by Donetsk at 1100 on Thursday.
