Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has said he will sign a second $1 billion loan guarantee agreement with Ukraine soon.

"I will soon sign our second $1 billion loan guarantee agreement since May, which will help Ukraine regain its financial footing," the ambassador wrote on Twitter on April 27.

He said that the U.S. “expects to provide an additional $1 billion in 2015, contingent on further progress on those reforms.”

Speaking about the reforms being made in Ukraine, Pyatt said that
decentralization can strengthen Ukraine’s democracy and complete the
process of building a new country.

Pyatt also said that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime
Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, and Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Groysman
shared this vision of reform.

He added that he welcomed the appointment of Artem Sytnyk as head of the newly established National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
