You're reading: US Congress postpones approval of final wording of bill on Ukraine until April 1

The U.S. House of Representatives has postponed until April 1 the voting on the Senate version of the bill, which foresees the provision of an aid package to Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

On the eve the members of the House of Representatives by a majority vote approved own draft law, the text of which insignificantly differs from the Senate wording.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives on March 27 by a majority vote approved their own bills on assistance to Ukraine in connection with sanctions against Russia.

The matter concerns two separate documents that were composed almost simultaneously and considered in both houses of the Congress.

At the same time, both bills are almost identical in their content and have only minor differences.

In particular, the two draft laws contain the call to provide financial assistance to Ukraine and impose sanctions against the officials and citizens of the Russian Federation, responsible, according to the congressmen, for violating the sovereignty of Ukraine and involved in corruption in this country.
