You're reading: US Department of State: Presidential elections in Ukraine disproves Russia’s propaganda on dominance of far right forces

Assistant Secretary of U.S. Department of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Tom Malinowski has congratulated Ukrainians with successful presidential elections adding that right parties obtained less votes than it happened during the lections in the Western Europe on the same day.

“Congratulations to the people of Ukraine on an historic election.
Now the work of securing human rights & honest government can
begin,” the American diplomat writes on Twitter.

Malinowski also said that the elections denied a statement about dominance of far right parties in Ukraine.

“Ukraine vote today disproves Kremlin propaganda-far right parties
got 2 percent, polling far less in Ukraine than in Western Europe,” the U.S.
assistant secretary said.

According to the recent reports from the CEC, Petro Poroshenko is
leading with 53.78 percent of votes after over 65 percent of electronic voting reports
have been processed, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said on
May 26 morning.
