You're reading: US expands sanctions list, includes self-proclaimed eastern regions leaders

The United States have included seven more participants of events in southeastern Ukraine and Crimea to the sanctions list.

A relevant document was posted on the website of the U.S. Department of Treasury.

In particular, the list includes Luhansk “people’s mayor” Valeriy Bolotov, defense minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushylin, first deputy prime minister of the DPR Andriy Purhin and former people’s mayor of Sloviansk Viacheslav Ponomariov.

Acting Sevastopol Governor Serhiy Meniaylo and chairman of union of Orthodox Ukrainian citizens Valeriy Kaurov are on the sanctions list too.
