The United States and France believe that Russia should take further steps to de-escalate the situation in the southeast of Ukraine, otherwise it will face new sanctions, the White House has stated.

The press service of the U.S. administration said that in the course of a telephone conversation, U.S. President Barack Obama and France President Francois Hollande “agreed that Russia will have to pay an extra price if it does not immediately take measures to de-escalate tension” in Ukraine.
