US Navy destroyer 'USS Porter' has arrived at the port of Odesa, an Interfax correspondent reported on Oct. 9.

The ship will stay at port for a few days, a source said.

The ship’s call into the Black Sea is associated with measures for the improvement of maritime safety in the region and more stability, as well as the growth of navy potential of U.S. allies and partners, the press service of the U.S. Navy reported.

The destroyer was built in 1996-98. Its maximal rate of sailing is 32 knots and the range is 4,400 nautical miles. The ship’s complement is 337 men. The ship took part in warfare during the U.S. War in Iraq of 2003, the anti-pirate operation in the area of Somalia.
