You're reading: Venice Commission approves in general amendments to Ukrainian Constitution regarding changes in justice area

Kyiv, June 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Commission for Democracy through Law, also known as the Venice Commission at the 95th plenary session in Strasburg on June 14, 2013 passed a conclusion on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine and approved them in general, the press service of a member of the Venice Commission from Ukraine (the Party of Regions faction), Serhiy Kivalov, has reported.

The press service said this concerns the amendments regarding the improvement of constitutional basis of justice in Ukraine. Head of the Constitutional Assembly Leonid Kravchuk sent the request for obtaining the conclusion.

The commission said in its conclusion that in general, the proposed amendments are in line with many recommendations, which the commission had presented earlier to Ukrainian authorities during the previous years.
