The Verkhovna Rada has accepted Pavlo Sheremeta's resignation as Ukraine's minister for economic development and trade.
A total of 252 MPs voted for such a decision on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
As reported, on Aug. 20, the Cabinet of Ministers 20 introduced the institution of Ukraine’s trade representative and appointed government commissioner for European integration Valeriy Piatnytsky to this post. On the same day, Sheremeta handed in his resignation, later explaining this decision by the appointment of a trade representative without his consent.
“The reason is the violation of management principles and a resolution that the minister himself nominates candidates for his deputies. The trade representative has the status of deputy minister,” Sheremeta said.
Sheremeta is the founder of Kyiv Mohyla Business School, President of Kyiv School of Economics, from 2008 to 2011 he was president and senior consult of the Malaysian National Blue Ocean Strategy. He became minister on Feb. 27, 2014 when the present structure of government headed by Arseniy Yatsenyuk was approved.
