You're reading: Verkhovna Rada to legally regulate biofuel market

The Verkhovna Rada is intending to legally regulate the market of biofuel production.

Some 278 MPs at first reading voted for the law on the development of biofuel production and consumption.

According to an explanatory note to the draft law, the aim of its adoption is the facilitation of biofuel production, sale, processing and supply to end consumers.

The draft law foresees the possibility of widely using biofuel by oil processing and other enterprises when producing mixed types of fuel. Similar measures of obligatory biofuel consumption were introduced in the European Union.

The wide use of biofuel in Ukraine provides the implementation of the mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol ratified in Ukraine regarding the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The draft law consists of 15 articles in six parts.
