Russia is ready for dialogue with Ukraine over key energy and transport issues, says Viktor Sorokin, the head of the Second CIS Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“We count on the government that will be formed as a result of the Ukrainian parliamentary elections being one of professionals. And we count on the resumption of the dialogue in the sphere of energy and transport and in other areas,” he told the Federation Council’s commission, which monitors the situation in Ukraine, on Oct. 28.

Hopefully, World War II veterans residing in Ukraine will be able to attend the festivities on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War, he said.

“We hope that the Great Patriotic (War) veterans will attend the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory and the festivities marking this memorable date in Russia,” Sorokin said.
