Ukrainian Vice Premier Oleksandr Vilkul has said that authorities in Zakarpattia region are to be on high alert in connection with possible high water.

“Local authorities are to be on high alert and ready to carry out
flood control actions. The government is monitoring the situation in
Zakarpattia region twenty four hours a day,” he said at an on-site
meeting of the state commission for technogenic and ecological security
and emergency situations held in Zakarpattia region on April 12, 2013.

Vilkul said that power agencies are to inform the public on time and
widely in case of the worsening of the hydrometeorological situation and
the possible threat of flooding towns and villages.

The vice premier has set a task to ensure stable operation of polder pump stations during the high water period.
