You're reading: Visa, Master Card cards still accepted in Crimea

SYMFEROPIL - Cash machines in Crimea were still accepting Visa and Master Card cards on Dec. 27 despite recent warnings by the two financial services corporations that their cards would soon become unusable on the peninsula, an Interfax reporter said.

Russia’s Mastbank, Genbank and Krayinvestbank were some of the
lenders whose ATMs in Symferopil still accepted Visa and Master Card
cards.

Crimeans were withdrawing large amounts of cash, there were short
lines near cash machines, and bank personnel were topping them up with
cash.

Visa had announced it would no longer support the issue or acceptance
of Visa cards in Crimea. Master Card on Dec. 26 notified Russian banks
that they would have to stop operations with Master Card cards on the
peninsula.
