You're reading: Volume of construction work in Ukraine grows over five months of 2012

The value of construction in Ukraine in January-May 2012 grew by 0.3% year-on-year, to Hr 19.443 billion, while previously the increase was fixed in January at 2.5% on January 2011, the State Statistics Service has reported.

As reported, the value of construction in Ukraine in January-April 2012 fell by 3% year-on-year, to Hr 14.05 billion.

According to the service, in January-May 2012, a rise of 0.3% was
seen in construction of buildings and facilities (to Hr 15.418
billion), a 4.9% rise in installation of engineering equipment (to Hr
1.996 billion), and a 13.4% rise in rent of construction machinery (to Hr 29.8 million).

At the same time, a fall in construction over the first five months
of 2012 was observed in completion of construction (2.9%, to Hr 106.4
million) and preparation of construction sites (4.5%, to Hr 1.894
billion).

New construction, reconstruction and technical re-equipment accounted
for 80.7% of the total state volume, overhauls 12.7%, and running
repairs 6.6%.

A fall in construction was seen in 15 regions, Crimea and Sevastopol
city, and the largest declines were registered in Crimea (by 33.9%, to Hr 528.9 million).

The largest growth in the volume of construction in January-May 2012
was registered in Rivne region (by 1.9 times, to Hr 546.5 million), and
Donetsk region (by 15.1%, to Hr 3.001 billion).

The volume of construction work in the city of Kyiv in the period
under review accounted for 23.8% of the total construction work in
Ukraine (Hr 4.636 billion).
