You're reading: Vulnerable Kyiv residents to receive material aid for Easter

Some 370,000 vulnerable Kyiv residents will receive targeted material aid from the municipal authorities to mark Easter, and Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has signed an instruction on this, according to the press service of Kyiv City State Administration.

According to the Main Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the municipal authorities allocated around Hr 431.120 million in one-time material aid to vulnerable residents in 2012.

"Social protection of the population is the key duty of the authorities. Today we are doing everything possible to improve the lives of poor Kyiv residents. I think that the social initiatives of the Ukrainian president will assist in the implementation of our plans and we will extend our possibilities to aid those who need it," Popov said.

In addition, the Kyiv-based branches of Oschadbank are actively preparing for the start of the issue of compensation to depositors of the former Soviet Sberbank, by order of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

On April 2, the first stage of the program started, during which information about depositors of Sberbank will be updated. Information about the depositors that did not receive compensation in 2008 but registered in the register of depositors by Jan.1, 2012 will be checked.

Information on the place and time for the confirmation of their registration in the register of depositors will be received in the following way:

citizens aged 80 years old and older as of Jan. 1, 2012 will receive the information from April 2, 2012 until April 20, 2012;

citizens aged between 70 and 79 years old – from April 21, 2012 until May 20, 2012;

citizens aged between 60 and 69 years old – from May 21, 2012 until June 20, 2012;

citizens aged between 50 and 59 years old – June 21, 2012 until July 20, 2012;

citizens younger that 50 years old – from July 21, 2012.

Depositors will receive the information on the time and address of a branch of Oschadbank where they can confirm their registration in one of the following ways:

– fill in a special application in the section "Information for Depositors of the Former Soviet Sberbank" on the Web site of Oschadbank;

– dial a hotline phone number and connect with an operator;

– dial a hotline phone number and listen to a message recorded on a answering system.

The hotline numbers are +38 044 364 2121 (for Ukrtelecom subscribers) or 0 800 212000 (free of charge from fixed lines all over Ukraine).

The hotline will work from 09.00 until 18.00 seven days a week.
