WASHINGTON - US authorities are intending to issue additional funds to Kyiv, White House spokesman Josh Earnest has said on Jan.31.

“The scope of our financial assistance to Ukrainian authorities could
increase significantly due to the unstable situation in the country
provoked by Russia,” he said at a press conference.

According to Earnest, “based on a number of reforms that they [the
authorities of Ukraine] have carried out, we advocate the provision of
financial assistance in the second half of this year,” the White House
representative said.

“We can and must do more to provide financial assistance to Ukraine,” he added.

As reported, earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked
the United States for the issue of $2 billion in loan guarantees to
Ukraine.
