The work on reinforcing roadblocks at the entrance to the town of Mariupol in Donetsk region is currently being completed, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko has said.

“Local residents, public activists and representatives of industrial enterprises in Mariupol take an active part in it. Industrial enterprises provide special fences – domestically produced steel and slab Czech hedgehogs – and steel plates to set up the positions of Ukrainian security services around the town,” he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Sept. 2.

Lysenko said that all roadblocks around Mariupol were being reinforced.

A second line of defense at a distance of 15-20 kilometers from the town will soon be built, he added.

“Information for citizens who want to contribute to the defense of Mariupol – the phone number of the headquarters of the territorial defense of the town is (062) 933 33,” he said.
