Yalta has launched the building of the biggest high-tech resort complex in Europe with about Hr 1 billion in investment, Yalta city mayor Serhiy Ilash said during the online broadcast with Yalta television and radio broadcasting company.

“The owners of the Yalta-Intourist hotel complex and Donbas holiday hotel have invested serious capital into the territory of Greater Yalta, in particular in the Yalta-Intourist complex. The coast resort area of Yalta-Intourist will completely change. Restaurants a planetarium and other entertainment complexes foreseen by the bill will be built in Yalta,” he said.

The reconstruction of the coastal area has already started. It envisages building of the second floor with volleyball areas, and after that building funicular railway and reconstruction of the Donbas holiday hotel will start.

“Today all the services are actively working and I’m sure that this project will be implemented. We hope that about Hr 1 billion will be invested in the creation in Yalta of the biggest and high-tech resort complex in Europe within three to four years,” Ilash said.

According to him, as a result of the project a resort complex with 2,500 rooms, which could accommodate 6,000 people at once, the biggest aqua park in Europe, and other infrastructure will be created.

“Completion of this large-scale project will create nearly 1,300 jobs until 2017, increase the number of holidaymakers up to 150,000 people per year and more, increase tax revenues to the local budget for Hr 13 million per year,” Ilash said.

The mayor said that the city council took a decision to implement a project near the bus station: building of shopping mall Foxtrot and is ready to implement building project of the trade complex at Radianska Square.

“The builder is ready for implementation of the project almost by 80%. He presented a sketch draft with new shopping mall, new square with sun o’clock. And today we’re discussing transformation of the fountain located there into the light music show.

Talking about prospects, Yalta city mayor reported that they are also holding talks with one more group to select an area for entering Inter-Continental hotel network.

“There are also negotiations concerning building of observation wheel in Yalta. In future building of the aqua park near Zoria health resort, as well as trade and hotel complex near taxi depot are planned,” the mayor said.

Over 20 investment projects are implemented in Yalta now with investments worth almost Hr 500 million.
