The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine will investigate charges made against former president Viktor Yanukovych as a single investigation, Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema has said.

“Today, we’re investigating all the criminal proceedings connected to Yanukovych’s activity during his four years in power in a single package. In particular, we’re starting with the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in 2010 on the creation of the so-called ‘titushky’ [thugs]… and we’ll finish with shootings [on Maidan],” Yarema said on the ICTV channel on Dec. 24.

He noted that this was the first investigation of its kind in the history of Ukraine.

“Of course, it’s the first time investigators are facing such massive violations of human rights. There’s lot of complications, but today we completely stick to procedural periods. We included practically all the crimes. There’s a lot of criticism towards us, but the case will be investigated and sent to court,” Yarema said.
