Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has ordered Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka to investigate the accident in the Sukhodilska-Skhidna coal mine (Sukhodilsk, Luhansk region), the president's press service reported.

"I would like the tragedy … to be reviewed from the legal viewpoint. You should check whether there were legal violations here. The rights of the victims should be protected," the president told Pshonka during a meeting of the governmental commission for investigating the reasons for the explosion in the mine on Friday.

Yanukovych stressed that all details of the accident in the mine should be scrutinized.

"We should fundamentally tackle this: look through all of the plans of mining operations, coal extraction, [and check whether] any [procedures] were violated," the president said.
