NEW DELHI – Cooperation with India is a priority of Ukraine's foreign economic policy, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“Ukraine considers cooperation with India as one of the strategic
directions in its foreign economic policy,” the president said at a
meeting with Indian businessmen in New Delhi on Monday.

According to Yanukovych, the countries should focus on the
intensification of bilateral trade. In particular, according to the
president, Ukraine and India could double trade by the end of 2015.
Currently, trade between the countries is estimated at around $2.9
billion.

In addition, the Ukrainian president stressed that the structure of
export and import operations should be diversified and improved.

Yanukovych also pointed to the importance of implementing mutual projects.

In connection with this, he praised the effective activities of
Ukraine’s state-run Antonov Enterprise and Motor Sich in India. The
companies are implementing the biggest commercial contract in the
history of Ukrainian-Indian relations on the repair and modernization of
105 Indian aircraft.
