You're reading: Yanukovych expands list of national projects

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has upgraded the list of national projects and expanded the powers of the State Agency for Investment and Management of National Projects of Ukraine, the head of the agency, Vladyslav Kaskiv, said on Friday, while commenting on a presidential instruction given on March 22.

The agency said in a statement that additional priority areas of socio-economic and cultural development have been outlined, in particular, the Agroperspektyva (Agricultural Prospects) project.

The instruction added new components to the national projects that were earlier approved. In particular, the LNG Terminal project was upgraded to a project entitled "LNG Ukraine – the creation of infrastructure for supplies of liquefied natural gas to Ukraine," which includes components such as LNG Terminal and LNG Resource.

Two new national projects were also added, in particular, "Ukraine’s industrial parks – the creation of industrial and manufacturing infrastructure" and "Technopolis – the creation of the infrastructure of innovative development and high technologies," Kaskiv said.

Other new promising areas, in particular, "An increase in the production of competitive agricultural products" and "The development of the agricultural market," include such new national projects as "Revived cattle-breeding – the development and implementation of a cattle-breeding development program," "Grain of Ukraine – a program for the development of grain production with high production and economic performance" and "Green markets – the creation of a network of regional wholesale food markets."

The state agency also reported that the operating projects were expanded with additional components.

Namely, "Energy of Nature – the construction of a complex of wind, solar, and small hydroelectric power plants, and production of solid alternative fuel" was supplemented by the "Warm House," "Ecolights," "Use of biomass and coal-water fuel for energy saving," and "Small hydroenergetics" projects.

The national project "Qualitative Water – aimed at supplying quality drinking water to the population of Ukraine" now includes the projects "Creation of qualitative drinking water supplies system for the population" and "Organization of production of water purification systems and their components."

"Open World – creation of the national information and communications educational network on the base of 4G technology" was expanded with the following projects "4G Educational Network," "Electronic Teacher," "Educational Cloud," "New Teacher," and "Electronic Government."

The national project "The City of the Future" was supplemented with the projects InterMedicalEcoCiti, "Kyiv-City", and "Technopolis "Piatykhatky."

The national project "Air Express" was expanded with several strategic infrastructure projects: construction of the railway passenger communication between Kyiv and Boryspil International Airport; construction of the ring road around Kyiv from Stolychne Highway to the M-03 Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhanske road on the segment between Kyiv and Boryspil; construction of a road from Podilsky Bridge across River Dnipro until Vatutin Avenue with a road interchange at the crossing of Horbachykha Tract and Podilsky Bridge across Dnipro River in Kyiv.

According to the president’s decree, the national project "Olympic Hope 2022" now includes several more projects "Lviv – Olympic city," "Borzhava Resort," and "Tysovets Sports Resort."
