Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said he believes that the new Criminal Procedure Code, which will come into force on November 20, 2012, will be effective.
“I am convinced that starting from the day of the new Code’s entry into force, its provisions will be effectively put in practice,” Yanukovych said at a meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The president also said that the adoption of the new Criminal Procedure Code was among Ukraine’s obligations to the Council of Europe in terms of the reform of the criminal justice system.
Yanukovych said reform in this area would continue, in particularly in the judicial, legal and defense areas, as well as in the field of security.
