Ukraine's language policy should facilitate the integration of representatives of all ethnic groups into Ukrainian society, President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview with the analytical magazine "Ukraine and the World in 2013. Global Agenda," a joint project of New York Times News Service & Syndicate and Segodnya Multimedia.

“Our priority is to implement the language policy that will be
considered and balanced, to promote the integration into Ukrainian
society of representatives of all ethnic groups in our country,” the
head of state said.

According to Yanukovych, the adoption of relevant, modern legislation
in the field of language is a very important task, because the problems
that have accumulated haven’t been solved for years. “The law that was
adopted needs improvement. And relevant work is being done,” he said.

At the same time, the president stressed that the laws should be
based on the principles of development and proper functioning of the
Ukrainian language.
