Decisions concerning legislation in the sphere of land relations, particularly agricultural land, will be taken with due regard to decisions made by the public, says Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

“In the near future, we should focus on further legislative streamlining of relations in the land sector and the electronic land cadastre system. During this work, one should always remember that land is not only the most expensive resource of the country, but it is also closely related to human stories of the present and future generations. Thus, when resolving issues related to agricultural land, it is important to optimize the use of mechanisms of public discussion,” the president said at an official meeting on the occasion of Farmer’s Day in Kyiv on Thursday.

He said he thought that the experience of leading countries that have already gone through this process should be studied before the resolving of such issues.

“I want to assure you that we won’t take a single step before we hear from people that they wish to go that way further, to deepen relations in the land sector,” the president said.
