You're reading: Yanukovych orders measures to free Ukrainian woman kidnapped in Syria

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and other concerned government agencies to take measures for the release of Ukrainian citizen Anhar Kochneva, who has been kidnapped in Syria. 

“A Ukrainian citizen who worked as a journalist for Russian TV channels has disappeared in Syria. I immediately demanded that all of the circumstances of the incident be investigated, and that the rights and interests of the Ukrainian citizen be protected,” the presidential press service quoted the head of state as saying on Monday.

The president also said that he would personally monitor the situation.
