Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has backed the proposal by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to prepare and publish the Great Ukrainian Encyclopedia in 2013-2020.
A relevant decree was signed and posted on the Web site of the Ukrainian president on January 2, 2013.
Yanukovych suggested the National Academy of Sciences should create the editorial board for the Great Ukrainian Encyclopedia, which will oversee the preparation and publication of the book.
The Cabinet of Ministers was ordered to develop together with the National Academy of Sciences and approve within two months an action plan to prepare and publish the encyclopedia in 2013-2020.
In addition, the government should order to house the state-run Ukrainian State Specialized Publishing House Ukrainian Encyclopedia named after Bazhan in the building at 51-a Khmelnytskoho Street in Kyiv.
The Cabinet should also settle the matter of reorganizing the state-run Ukrainian State Specialized Publishing House Ukrainian Encyclopedia named after Bazhan and the editorial board of the List of Historical and Cultural Landmarks of Ukraine into the Ukrainian Encyclopedia Publishing House named after Bazhan.
