Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has promised that Ukrainians will see positive results from the reforms in the country in 2012.

"I can say unambiguously that we will see positive results from these reforms in 2012," he said during the Conversation with the Country television project on Friday, Feb. 25.

While commenting on the timing of reforms in the country, Yanukovych said he had repeatedly noted that the level of credibility in the authorities was "very low" and that the authorities understood this quite well.

"The year 2010 was a very difficult year for us. We have checked our own strength… Patience is not eternal. I also understand this quite well," he added.

Yanukovych noted that this year the authorities would continue to deepen the reforms. In particular, he said that reforms had been outlined in 21 areas. He said that a multi-stage approach would be applied to the reform effort.

"Of course, we will try to ensure that these [reforms] are conducted as quickly as possible, and not so painfully," he said.
