Ukrainian oligarchs and Opposition Bloc Party won't succeed when hampering to set up a Ukraine Tomorrow international broadcast TV channel in Ukraine, which will launch by the end of 2015, Ukrainian Information Policy Minister Yuriy Stets said.

“Dear friends-oligarchs and your political forces, which are controlled by the Opposition Bloc, but in reality represent Viktor Yanukovych’s interests, I promise you will gain nothing. We will launch it [Ukraine Tomorrow] nevertheless, the media platform will start working by the end of the year,” Stets said during the meeting of the government in Kyiv on Aug. 12.

“One company, which has relation to Rinat Akhmetov, namely DTEK, switched off electricity at one organization – which was handed to us to further management – the BTB TV channel. This channel had supposed to be on air in two-three weeks. After our speech at the press conference, electricity was restored,” the minister said, speaking on the difficulties, which appear during the launch of the given TV channel.

According to Stets, some difficulties appeared with the name of the new channel.

“Accidentally, after we announced the intention to create Ukraine Tomorrow, Dmytro Firtash Group [Group DF] introduced the idea on owing the patent named Ukraine Tomorrow in all languages of the world,” the minister said.

As reported, in early 2015, Stets announced the creation of the instrument of delivering information on positive reformations in Ukraine – Ukraine Tomorrow international TV channel.

The launch of the media platform is scheduled for late August or early September, according to Stets. In the framework of establishing the international broadcasts, the Cabinet of Ministers handed over the Ukrinform news agency and BTB and UTR channels to the Ministry of Information Policy, Stets said.

The Cabinet also submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on international broadcasts and is to pass the draft law in September 2015, he said.

Meanwhile, Group DF announced that it started to use the word combination Ukraine Tomorrow at public events in 2014, after which it decided to register the corresponding brand name.

“In fact, we started to use this word combination at public events in 2014. After successful international forums, we made a decision to apply documents on registration of this brand in four language, and it was done later in well-time,” the press service of Group DF said.

Group DF claims that at the moment of filing the application for the registration of the brand name Ukraine Tomorrow, the company followed “business logic only”, terms of international law and Ukrainian legislation, which allow registration of the given trademark.
