Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has assured Ukrainians that he will assist in ensuring there is social justice in the country.

"As president of Ukraine, I will help ensure there is social justice, and remove the barriers facing citizens on the grounds of age, sex, religion, ethnicity, culture or physical disabilities," the presidential press service quoted him as saying in an address to Ukrainians on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice.

President Yanukovych said that the measures being taken as part of the economic reform program for 2010-2014, entitled "Rich Society, Competitive Economy, Effective State," were aimed at economic growth, and that they "will help eradicate poverty and ensure full employment, equality between men and women, and social well-being."

"I’m convinced that the unification of efforts by the government and the public, the strengthening of the social responsibility of businesses, and the transfer of the social dialog to a qualitatively new level will be the key to the establishment in our state of solidarity, concord and equal opportunities for everyone," Yanukovych said.
