You're reading: Yanukovych promises continued growth of teachers’ salaries

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has noted the importance of ensuring adequate social protection of education workers and promised that teachers' salaries will be increasing annually.

“We must and we will do everything to ensure that our teachers are socially protected, so that the salary should grow from year to year. And this year will be no exception,” the head of state said speaking at the opening of the renovated school No. 106 in Kyiv on Saturday, the presidential press service reported.

Yanukovych stressed that the authorities would fulfill their duty to the employees of the education sector. Ukrainian President has greeted pupils, students and teachers on occasion of Knowledge Day and beginning of the new 2012/2013 academic year.

“Today, the doors of educational facilities are welcomingly opened for millions of our compatriots. Under the guidance of wise and experienced mentors you will gain invaluable knowledge and skills to master future profession and lay the foundations of your own life,” reads the president’s greeting on the web site of the head of state.

“Modern world demands from a person deep knowledge and broad erudition, readiness for rapid changes and self-improvement. I emphasize that your fate and the fate of Ukraine depends on your diligence, hard work and commitment,” the president said.

Yanukovych also thanked teachers for responsible work and commitment to their field.

The president also assured that improving national education and ensuring high social status of educators is the main priority of the state policy.
