Vinnytsia - The salary of health care workers in 2013 is expected to grow by at least 10%, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

During a ceremony to open a department for head and neck tumors at Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Oncology Center on Tuesday, the head of state noted that last year the average salary in the health sector grew by 24%, to Hr 2,200 and that the salary of doctors in dispensaries rose to almost Hr 3,000.

“Of course, it’s not enough, so we will do all so that it [the salary] grows by at least 10% in the current year,” he said.

“The state will continue to do everything to improve the standard of living and ensure the social protection of health care workers,” Yanukovych said.

The president also presented a gift to the oncology center – a modern device for diagnosing cancer at the cellular level.
