Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law on the implementation of operation safety standards for the united energy system of Ukraine and the quality of energy supply services, according to the presidential press service.
Relevant law No. 5066-VI on amending the law of Ukraine on electricity in part of providing continuous energy supplies to consumers and investment in infrastructure was signed by the president on August 14 and returned to the parliament.
The document was developed as part of bringing the Ukrainian legislation into conformity with the requirements of Directive 2005/89/EC.
According to the document, operation safety standards for the united energy system of Ukraine will be approved by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry in coordination with the National Commission for Energy Regulation (NCER).
The NCER, in turn, will approve the quality of energy supply services in agreement with the ministry.
These agencies are obliged to monitor the implementation of operation safety standards for the united energy system of Ukraine and compliance with the figures of energy services quality.
