You're reading: Yanukovych signs law on ratification of Ukraine-Mongolia agreement to prevent, address emergencies

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed the law on the ratification of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Mongolian government on the prevention of the emergencies and dealing with their consequences.

The agreement was signed in Kyiv on June 29, 2011. It defines the form of cooperation in organizing and carrying out monitoring of the environment, predicting emergencies and estimating their consequences, the risks of environmental pollution and damage to people’s health because of possible pollution caused by emergencies.

The agreement foresees types of aid to save people, protect the environment, logistical and maintenance support by subdivisions for rendering urgent aid and providing medical services to those injured in an accident. The agreement also envisages an exchange of information to conduct search and rescue operations to deal with the consequences of disaster both natural and human-caused.

The Verkhovna Rada ratified this document on July 4, 2012.
